I was looking to update all the shocks on my 1978 Pace Car and decided to go with the Bilsteins HD after a fair bit of research.
So I did some "armchair shopping" and found a HUGE variation in pricing.
Here's what I found:
Ecklers: $449.77
VP&B: $379.86 (This was the "Sport" price as I couldn't find HD on their site)
Corvette Central: $359.00
Willcox: $319.29
Corvette America: $309.99
Quite surprising that for the EXACT same product there's a $140 or 45% difference!
That difference will easily pay for new springs for the front and postage!
Would've thought Ecklers would've had better buying power - probably do, but don't pass on the savings to us.
I'd also try putting your shock numbers in a search on fleabay. I did that for bilsteins for my truck and was pleasantly surprised at the savings I found. Better than any other place I'd found. Good luck.

I like to support the vendors when possible. They do make it difficult when the prices can be drastically different. Jegs or summit racing is another route.
What is disconcerting is that they sell them for $77.50 each, but another vendor is selling them for $112.50 each, $35 each difference for the same thing.
You might want to consider the Sport version instead of the HD one. The valve action on the sport, I find to be a much better ride but still gives great handling. JMO.

Yes, but not on a vette, it was a TR-6 which is a little lighter. The HD's are for heavier cars so that may be the difference. The HD's road like Koni's (oil based not gas), which IMO are very stiff.

General consensus seems to be that the sports give a harsher ride than the HD as they are for more performance/spirited driving
Sports are stiffer and better for handling; HD's are really nice "all around" shock. If you put a mono-spring in back, you definitely want to put Sports in the rear...too spongy, if you don't (I know--I have HD's in rear with a mono-spring).
If you want 'stiff', go with Sports in front, too. Otherwise, HD's in front and Sports in back.
