Anyone changed their 1969 oil pressure gauge to a wire? I cant find an aftermarket kit to do this. I cant keep it from oozing on my radio.
Are you sure the compression fitting at the gauge is the correct one? Corvette compression fittings are different than the ones you buy at an auto parts store.
I converted my 68 to electric so the radio wouldn't get a constant oil change. I had an instument repair shop put the 68 face on a 75 gauge so the lettering matched. Got the correct sending unit and ran a blue wire from the sender into the guage. Picked up the 12 volt power from an adjacent gauge and was good to go.
Hi T69,
If you want to try to keep the mechanical gauge you might try replacing the tapered 'collet' that slips on to the tube.
Often when these have been tightened and loosened a few times they don't make a good seal anymore.
Good Luck!

Alan
You can change it, you just need a unit from a 1975-1976 oil gauge... then you'd need to buy a sender for the same car and then run power, ground and a ohms wire... The issue is the face won't be correct or match what you have in the car already so you'd need to remove the needle and swap the faces.. Do-able... but like Alan suggested I'd replace the line with a new one before I'd go to that much trouble.
We really don't have many leak issues when a new line is installed.
