What is the difference between a big block power steering pump on a 68 and a small block power steering pump? NCRS judging guide list a difference. Assembly manual only shows one power steering pump used. I know the assembly manual shows different pulleys depending on which big block is used. I have the L71 427/435. Any pictures on references would be appreciated.
Hi B,
?
The 71 AIM shows the same part number for the pump, but different brackets/pulleys for a sb or bb installation.
I looked at the 68-69 TIM&JG too and see that a difference in the configuration of the sb pump and bb pump is described. It seems to have to do with the shape of the neck and how/where its attached to the body of the pump.
Again ?
Regards,
Alan

Alan, you come up with the same understanding that I have. Also the GM parts manual that I have only list one part number for the power steering pump for the 68. I am confused, I'm trying to find pictures of pumps to see if there is a difference.
Thanks for the feed back.
