I need some advise, new wiper motor, now the wipers work both
Speeds the problem I am having now is the washers will not
stop working. What could I have hooked up wrong . Both wires
To the washers are hot when the wipers are on. Could the plug
Be reversed? It's a 69 with washers on the headlights too
Thanks for the help.
Yes Alan, the switch is bran new ,I thought that was the problem.
Both wires to the washers are hot as soon as the key is on.
Maybe a ground on the switch . I will try that today. The harness is new also, the resistor in the motor was burnt in half. That's why I changed the motor. Thanks again .
Obviously you know the dark blue wire ( circuit #17 in the Willcox schematic) at the washer pump needs to be a controlled ground signal....and should ONLY be a ground signal when you push in on your wiper switch.
Yes the yellow is hot,the dark blue wire shows a dim light when
Using a test light with the key on . I thought that about the switch ,
I guess I will take it out and test it with the Willcox Viedo ,they are a lot of help, I should have bought the switch from them . Thanks again Dub.
The washer pump is also new and I don't want to have to replace that .
I am thinking that is what burnt up the resistor in the motor?
When you slide the switch the wipers come on along with the washers.
When you push the washer button the washers shut off. I think that means
The switch is bad (new) (china) doesn't that sound right? Thanks again.
AS far as I know how the switch is supposed to work. If you slide it to the right one 'click'...you go to low speed...one more click to the right....you go to high speed wipers.
When the switch is pushed all the way to the left...it goes to PARK....and when you press in on the button it should go in and to the right ( if I am not mistaken and the washers come on and stop when you let off the button...but the wipers will now be in low speed.
I have had problems with brand new switches and have found I would rather take the original apart and fix it if I can than trust the new switch...which does not 'feel' right when it is being used....in my opinion.

so, JBrooke, did you switch check out ok?
Willcox, what happens when the wires are put on upside down???
I am not sure yet ,both wires are black ,sort of tells me it doesn't matter
But I will try when I put the dash back together tommorow . It's to cold
To go out to the job! I will let you know.
JB825,
I purchased a new switch for my 68 and it lasted about 3 uses.
It went in the circular file. Nothing like new parts that don't work.
I purchased a GM take off from a guy off ebay in Canada.
It works perfect.
The off shore stuff is horrible.
Rule out the switch first or you may just be making allot of busy work for yourself.
Best of Luck in trouble shooting.
