I thought there's still benefits with detonation resistance and avoiding hot-spots. My static CR is going to be 10:1 and with the long-runner intake stuffing maximum quantities of air in there the dynamic compression is pretty border line for pump gas, too so I figured I'd like the detonation resistance.

I also thought that modern fuel detergent additives helped with soot; no?

Polishing the chamber is not going to hurt anything. I would agree that removing any sharp protrusions is a must. Area around the plug threads seems to be common.
I polished my chambers vs the CNC texture that was left in there. I think of it like this. All those little ridges and valleys poorly reflect heat back to the piston and combustion chamber. They also serve to absorb more heat than may be desirable. Heat is power.
A polished surface reflects the heat back into the chamber and is a poor absorber of heat energy vs a rough surface. At the very least sharp edges can be eliminated.
I'll have to scope my chamber and see what it looks like now. Probably is soot covered I would imagine. That doesn't mean the polish isn't still doing it's job though.

Jegs support emailed me back 50lbs-and I got lucky there because that's exactly what I torqued them too. I might have to reposition them after installing pushrods- or even drill them out as I went with 1.6 ratio RRs so probably not a big deal right now.

Haha. Yeah I've been caught snoozing a little before.
I was actually looking for an info sheet like that for Profiler 185. I have a set of those on my 355. Very happy with them. Looks like JEGS does sell that size?

I'm trying to track down a good set of 3/8" stud-mounted stainless 1.6 ratio roller rockers, but I'm confused at a couple of items.

The heads come with guide plates (5/16" flat) -this means that I should use nonself-aligning roller rockers, right?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a specific set to buy?

I was thinking of these, but I don't know if they're Chinese crap or decent: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...20904/10002/-1

I have the big block version (1.7 ratio) of these installed by the PO of my 68 convert with NOM 454 motor. I just finished installing aluminum heads and a Lunati cam with .540 lift and other upgrades and kept the ss roller rockers. They worked fine on the previous cast iron head with a Comp cam with .510 lift and work OK with the new set up. I used guide plates and new rocker studs to install.

Adam - any updates on this? How's the build going? How did you like your choices?
