Found it lying in the engine bay. Looks like some kind of ground strap that clips onto the edge of a piece of sheet metal somewhere? The car's a '69 L71 coupe that began its life with me as a basket case.
Thanks,
-Doug

On my 68 BB it's located under the drivers side frame rail to the stone guard.
It's a ground strap.
An AIM for 67 will show you exactly where it was originally mounted.

Hi Doug,
Marshal is right!
AND, it's a nice find!!!!
I believe the intention was for the 'loop' end to be mounted to a small hole in the #1 body mount on the frame using a hex-head thread cutting screw and star washer, and the 'clip' was to be slid on to the forward edge of the birdcage rocker channel.
A bit of an unusual star washer was used originally… it has both internal and external 'teeth'.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Doug,
Notice it's with the U69 option pages…. so only cars with radios got that ground strap!

With Alan on the job, it's easy to get the correct info (usually with a pristine photo example). Yes that is a thank you/compliment Alan, post/in advance, as I've looked over many of your posts and expect to need more later.

Now, you should immediately put it on eBay, asking for $1000 for this "rare, factory-original piece of Corvette memorabilia". Wouldn't be surprised if some fool wanted to take you up on it.
Clean it up, put it back on your car; and you will be the only owner within 1000 miles to have that 'original' item on their car!
