I have a '71 LS-5. I believe I am needing a PS Pump, any recommendations? NOS or US made would be best. I would consider a decent reman unit. I was thinking VBP maybe?

My best luck was with GM-Rebuilt units. Direct from Dealership,
leak after 6-7 months.
other rebuilds from Cardone (Napa) went through 3 and they all leaked at different places and where noisy.
The GM units also leaked so GM Supplied me with rebuild kits to repair my self.
Is yours working but just leaks fluid, then first try a rebuild kit.
You do need a special puller to remove the pulley.

'71 is keyed, no puller needed.
Mine is a rebuild from Lonestar. I went through 3 of them before I got one that wasn't busted. It started leaking after a while so I took it apart and did a rebuild myself. They're easy to rebuild and the seal kit is less than $15. Found the reason it was leaking was Lonestar used the wrong o-ring in a couple of places (later pumps used thicker o-rings which they used on my early pump and that prevented the pump from seating fully in the housing).
I got my replacement pump at Autozone about 4 years ago. I looked it over to ensure it looked the same, and transferred over a bolt/stud that was missing on the new one. Works great and no leaks.
FYI- I'm pretty sure I ruined the old pump myself by overtightening the PS hose and warping the body when I did not adequately secure the pump-reservoir body.... so be careful with that.
I did not feel terrible about it since it had been like 24 years since I added power steering and it had not given me any problems in that time.
