Weird short need help.
On my 72 383 5 speed I have a strange gremlin. Before I dive into it Id like to see if anyone has had this happen or thinks they know where to start.
This has recently started, with my engine off, ignition on when I turn on my right turn signal my distributor fires as if it is the blinker light, no blinker light. If I leave it on in a few seconds it blows a fuse. Where could this short be.
It all worked fine earlier. I have been under dash checking on vacume lines but all looks ok.

There is your problem. You need to trace the wiring on the turn signal from front to back.
As mentioned earlier, you have a grounding issue.
If you have a shop manual, you can trace the wire diagram and see where the turn signal and distributor could potential intersect.

Do you have an HEI distributor on this car? If so I'd go to where they jumped the power wire for it and see if this is your issue. You may have a combo issue where the turn signal switch is feeding voltage to the distributor.
