On my 72 383 5 speed I have a strange gremlin. Before I dive into it Id like to see if anyone has had this happen or thinks they know where to start.
This has recently started, with my engine off, ignition on when I turn on my right turn signal my distributor fires as if it is the blinker light, no blinker light. If I leave it on in a few seconds it blows a fuse. Where could this short be.
It all worked fine earlier. I have been under dash checking on vacume lines but all looks ok.
More often than not, gremlins are bad grounds. When a ground is lost, being a non metallic car, the current takes the path of least resistance, and that is usually NOT the intended path.
Do you have an HEI distributor on this car? If so I'd go to where they jumped the power wire for it and see if this is your issue. You may have a combo issue where the turn signal switch is feeding voltage to the distributor.
