Default Speakers 1982

I know 4x6go in the front and I gather 6x9 in rear my question is Best Buy has 4 by 6 speakers 2 or 3 Way and I was wondering with those fit in the front and can any 6 by 9 go in the back if I'm going to replace the whole stereo system wiring and all

You are correct. 4x6 Front, 6x9 rear. The biggest issue i've found is going to be on the magnet size of the 4x6, followed by if there is any larger frame above the main plate which might not allow the factory grill to fit. As long as you're not going with high end separates which fit in the 4x6 plate, you should be fine.

When i installed my polk 4x6 which had a pretty big magnet, it barely fit.
On the 6x9's there is alot of room behind the plate so there shouldnt be any fit issues.

take out the old speakers first.then you will see that you don't have much depth to work with. You may have better sound from a better and larger speaker if you put them in the lower side kick panels.https://1982corvette.shutterfly.com/...s#:albumId=378 there are several guys here that use the polks

I went with terry82's suggestion. I put Kicker 6.5s in the kick panels of my '81. I couldn't be happier.

They do. Model number is Db461p which is a plate mount component. They also make the DXi460 which is a 4x6 2 way.

On the plate model, i did have to trim the frame to get it to fit.
