Default Lowering the rear

Trying to close the gap on the rear of my 75 from the tire to the fender. I am already using 8 inch bolts and can not get down low enough. Should I try ten inch bolts? Attached are photos of my current setup.

Stupid question, did you roll it back and forth to settle the rear suspension?

Hi DD,
What size are the tires?
They seem to be contributing to the empty fender arch appearance.
Tires should typically be ABOUT 27" tall.
Regards,
Alan

Tires are about 26 inches in diameter. At that point is where the car would sit level in the back. It has been like this for about 2 years. I just switched the rims and wanted to lower the car.

Tires are way to small. Even if you get it down more, it still won't look right.

My question is though from my research the half shafts should be sitting parallel to the ground. Which they are higher at the differential which had nothing to do with tire height.

As much as folks love to talk about 17 and 18 inch wheels, unless you get tire diameter at 27 inches, which is what the car was designed around, its going to have this look. You can lower it of course, but the diameter of the wheel opening will not match the smaller diameter of the tire.

I like some of these bigger wheels, but I see this problem on most of them a mile away. I guess you have to learn to live with that. And of course the better tires are the popular thing to do, even if a person just drives the car normally versus playing weekend racer boy. The factory 15 inch rims and Goodrich Radial TA's just aren't good enough for some

What's the actual tyre size? Looks smaller than 26", but I could be wrong. But yes, the suspension's sitting higher than it needs to also. You obviously have an aftermarket fiberglass spring, some of those are known for sitting too high too. Sorry, no cheap fix! Might need a new spring and/or new tyres to get the height/look you're wanting.

Way too high for my taste.
My thought is the mounting block for the spring is to large it look wrong measure that or reverse it, that might lower the spring mounting position to lower the suspension.

Tires are the nitto 555. In 245-45-17. I was comparing past measurements from the ground to the high spot in the fender. I know my front is up about an inch and a quarter since switching to aluminum radiator, aluminum heads, and ditching emission components along with A/C. The rear has always been high which I thought was due to the fiberglass spring. My tires might be a touch small but my questions pertains to getting the rear suspension to ride lower. Any suggestsions on which spring to switch too. Also thank you for the color comment, usually that's the first thing people comment on when I have her or.

I tried to look into flipping it today but the way the notch is in the rear there was not a way to switch the blocks around.

Those tires are 25.7" tall. Unless you get bigger tires, you're stuck with that look.

I am running 17" wheels with Nitto 555s, size is 255/50/17. I had to go with the VBP front springs, composite rear spring with longer bolts in the rear. Half shafts are close to level, slight higher in the middle. I like the stance, and I think they fill the wheel wells fairly well.

This picture is older, and a bit dark - but you can get the idea:

It's your rear spring. If it were me I would buy a well used rear spring.

I would not try longer bolts. They are at that point where a flat tire would cause quite the wreck when they dig in.

Read page 4-7 concerning rear spring ride height, "D" height in figure 11, which controls the parallelism of the half shafts with respect to the ground
