Hi C,
Is this question part of your previous post's 'popping' question?
Are you asking if the zerk mounting boss might be hitting something as the shaft turns?
Regards,
Alan

#1. The snap ring is not seated correctly, which means the u-joint is not centered in the yoke. I would guess that the yoke ears are bent in by .010 or more, thus not allowing the snap ring enough room to seat properly.

#2. The ujoint should be installed with the zerk facing the drive shaft, not facing the pinion yoke. They are designed to have proper clearance that direction, and it will allow you enough room to access the zerk with a grease gun.

No matter what, I would have that shaft out of the car, remove the ujoint and see if the yoke is damaged.

I had the exact same problem with my 69. The u joints looked new but I had a very slight vibration at 60 mph. I thought I would try greasing the joints as I saw they had zerk fittings. I was unable to do the rear joint so deducted the fitting had never been greased in the first place. I pulled the driveshaft and sure enough the joint was almost dry and starting to bind. I replaced everything and no more vibration. That clip in your photo also needs to be seated properly.

I just did this job on my '73. You definitely need to pull that driveshaft and reseat the ujoint so the clip will seat properly and center the ujoint.
