cruise control transducer
Yes, Typical failure mode; Speedo/odo quit. 82 CE 17,800 miles.
I am familiar with the troubleshooting procedure...check cables, if they're
okay, its the transducer.
Fair enough....I don't even mind buying a new one.
WHAT EXACTLY FAILS?....driven gears? I figure it's a 1:1 gear set.
Has anybody actually tried to fix one? It's the curiosity that's getting to me.
I have an old saying (because I'm old, I guess, LOL)
"Nothing is ever broken, until I SAY it's broken".

This thread WAS helpful...but its about troubleshooting and removal...I am asking for someone who ACTUALLY repaired theirs.
Jeez, I'm a mechanical engineer how hard can this be!

Great write up.
With the unit in my hand, should there be some resistance when spinning the brass bit that the cable slots into in my fingers?
I am guessing so as the magnet sandwiches the the copper disc between the plates?
My lower cable spapped and i dont want to just fit another if the transducer unit should be free moving in case it snaps the new cable too.
