Here's my issue... with all new seals on the support and the shroud, etc. I can't seem to get the radiator to "seat" well on the bottom supports.
The right side seems to be sitting down but the left side bottom radiator seems to be about half an inch up from the lower support.
I've been trying to persuade it down but no such luck. I'm beginning to suspect that the support is a bit "off".
Stupid me, didn't think to fit the radiator and support while they were out of the car. I hate the thought of taking them back out, but unless there is some other trick I can try, that looks like where I'm heading.
Hi Len,
Is the cote support designed to accept the radiator you're installing?
Has it seated properly in the past?
Regards,
Alan
Yes, it is the radiator that was in the car.... while I had it out, I took it in to rad shop for good clean / testing....
I think the issue I'm having is the new foam seal that rides the bottom lip of the support. The bottom of the radiator is flush up to that foam (new) and I can't compress it enough for the radiator to seat all the way down.
I can pull the foam out and then I think the thing will sit down.
OR
Maybe just let it recess over time as the foam compresses.
IDK - this is my first american car rebuild (all Euro's in the past) and I have to say that so far nothing has been easy.
