Default Fiber optics question

I'm restoring a 70 with fiber optics. On the front end, two plugs go to the turn signal light... and that is all I see up front... but there are 6 fiber optic light monitors on the console... what do the other 4 monitor?

From the front, there are 6 fiber optic lines- all 4 headlights and the 2 park lights. The headlight fibers go into the center of the plug for the bulbs and have a sponge seal that fits over the tit on the back of the bulb. My sponge seals are long gone, and me being too cheap to buy new, I used a short bit of vacuum hose.

Didn't know that.

I don't have those either but my FO work fine. I even did the relay upgrade and modified my new ceramic plugs with the FO ends. Used some high temp red RTV to hold them in place. Worked fantastic.

I had a new wiring harness put into the front. I see the optics for the turn signals. Are the optics for the headlights included in the bundles with the other wires that provide power for the headlights?

Hi rr,
Here you can see the fiber optics cable in the center of the headlight connector… typical for all 4.
Regards,
Alan

There are also small black plastic tubes that are part of the connection that ensure all the light from the lamp is gathered onto the cable.

If the harness came with parking light FO then it seems certain it would have come with headlamp FO.

Keep in mind too that not all headlamp bulbs will work with FO. Many of the new halogen bulbs don't allow any light through the backside of the bulb. Some even have a rubber boot that blocks all light rendering the FO inoperable.

This may be a dumb question but I'll ask anyway, What years C3's used fiber optics as part of the lighting?

Hi OCB,
The fiber optics system was standard equipment on 68-71 cars.
