Default LT 1 style valve covers

I have some NOS LT1 valve covers I'm adding to dress up the engine a bit...

I do not run the stock air cleaner assembly ('77).

I have also eliminated most of the smog equipment...

My question is what are you all running for a breather in the passenger valve cover (the hole is smaller than most other valve covers)?

A simple push in works great.

Yeah--what I am finding though, is that the hole in the LT1 valve cover is smaller than the hole in the stamped steel covers...
Trying to get an idea which ones will fit...the parts stores around here all seem to have only the larger size...

Hi Keith,
Because the thickness of the LT-! valve cover is greater than the thickness of the stamped steel valve cover I believe there's a slightly different grommet for each application.
Do you have the one specifically for the aluminum valve cover.
Regards,
Alan

For instance ZIP VC-210.

One valve cover has exit hole for the PCV valve. The other valve cover hole accepted a steel line that went to the small crankcase air intake filter mounted inside the factory main air cleaner assembly.

The PCV system filtered the air before it went into the crankcase then sucked it out the other side thru the PCV valve.

If you just put breathers on both sides you will be cleaning oily vapor residue off the valve covers every time you lift the hood due to crankcase air pressure blowing out.

I have the PCV valve in the driver cover, as I should. I no longer use the factory air cleaner, so the pipe would not work for me.

I am just looking for ideas for a filtered breather to put in the passenger side...given the smaller than "normal" hole in the aluminum cover, I am trying to figure out the best part number to get...
I am assuming I need a 3/4 push in breather? Is there another size, etc?

I do have the correct grommet for the pcv valve...just looking for some ideas on what to do with the passenger side--breather-wise, since it seems to be a non-standard size for push in breathers.

Hi k,
Here's a photo of the grommet I posted installed in an LT-! valve cover with the elbow that fits it.

I'd think you should be able to find a breather that fits that grommet.

Regards,
Alan

Do you have apart number on that elbow, by chance?

Most aftermarket open element air cleaners come with provisions to route the crankcase breather hose to it.

I think little filters stuck in the valve cover look tacky

True. Tried to do that before. Never really found one that worked or even looked right.

OP will need the elbow, special rubber hose and the little disposable filter element/retainer. Cut hole in base of new air cleaner and pop it on. It will look good and work right.
