So I have a new issue my car is now randomly stalling out. Usually right after I accelerate or turn. It will start back up but it’s just doing it for no reason as far as I can tell. Here is a little info on the car 355, egr deleted, hooker headers straight pipes, RV cam and a lot of other little stuff. I have never had this issue any suggestions?
how much gas do you have in the tank?i would look at the hose between the fuel pump and the fuel sending unit.add fuel .if it goes away that is your proplem.
It’s full, made sure of that. I’m going to change the filter tomorrow and see if that helps. I can never get it to do it when I’m in the garage just at the worst times like driving on a Main Street.
If it has over 100,000 miles it could be the fuel pump relay failing. Or it could be the ignition module failing. You need to verify whether it's a loss of fuel or a loss of spark. The ignition modules aren't horribly expensive so I suggest replacing it just to see if that cures the problem but only buy a Standard Blue Streak or an MSD. When it comes to buying ignition modules NEVER look for the lowest price because you get what you pay for.
Do you still have the twin throttle bodies???...or have you switch to a carburetor???
Does this 'stalling out' occur right after you crank it and get out on the road...thus...the engine is still cold...so-to-speak???? OR Does it happen when you have been driving it for some time and the engine is at operating temp?????
It happens when I’m up to temp. This just started happening and yes I’m still running the xfire and I know I have reached its limit no more mods until I decide on a new fuel system. I have a tpi system off of a 91 gta but decided not to use it. So it’s carb or Holley sniper. First I must find out what is causing the stall I wish I could get it to happen in the garage so I could see what’s going on. I’ll try the ignition module too I may have one laying around somewhere.
Yes it is, I think it’s my filter or fuel pump but I’m still troubleshooting. The only reason I’m leaning that way is because it idles fine runs awesome until it stalls. I’m trying to find a way to read out my ignition module as well just in case. Still looking around my garage I know I had one. The best way I found to troubleshoot these vettes is to drink a lot so you can think of things that you would otherwise say “couldn’t be that”.
check fuel pressure at the fuel filter.the best place is between the tbs.
...checking the fuel pressure after the fuel filter is wise..and then ...which can be more of a pain for some who own these cross-fire engines is being able to check the fuel pressure between the throttle bodies like 'terry82' mentioned.
I have seen fuel pump begin to fail when they have been running for a while...and this can be due to age, or the wire connections not allow all of the current to get to the pump and thus its performance really suffers.
Do you have the unique fuel line/gauge that allows you to check the fuel pressure between the throttle bodies??? I do know it is a MUST....unless you install that steel line with a gauge made into it.
I do know that even with the correct flare wrenches....removing that line so the fuel gauge can be installed can be a CHALLENGE.
