Default th200-4r

Has anyone put a th200-4r in a 1979 . The physical insall into the chassis is fitting fine but I am concerned with the tunnel clearances. The body is off and I can find out by dropping it on but I thought someone could save me some labor if they knew of any problems. It looks tight and a depression for the shifter may be of some concern.. Thanks

It will fit fine. Same dimension as. Th350. I have had mine in for 4yrs now in my 79. Love it.

you can use the same cross member. Just remove the th350 extension. The 200-4R mount will line up with the 2 existing holes.

Agree, the fit is fine in my 78. The only issue was getting the speedometer to read correctly. I had to buy an external 10% gear reducer, which barely fits due to the tunnel.
Try to get the correct internal gears into the 200-4R so the speedometer will read correctly.

Either the 200-4R or the 700-R4 will fit fine in an automatic trans car. It may need some tunnel modification on the right side if the car was originally built with a manual transmission.
