Car was running fine in late August when I uncovered some front end issues. After rebuilding the front end I attempted to start the engine to balance the power steering valve. The engine starts but quickly dies off like only the accelerator pump is providing fuel and once that is gone it flames out not wanting to idle. Any ideas? I did nothing to the carbs or fuel system.
I would manually fill up the center carb until I see fuel coming out of the sight plug hole...and try it and see if it stays running or if it runs for a bit longer and then does again.
I get big syringes from my vet that allows me to put fuel in them and go down into the bowl vent tube and fill up the bowl. It is less messy.
unhook fuel line. stick a piece of hose on it and put it into a jar. crank engine. getting fuel from the pump? have somebody else crank the engine while holding the jar. last thing you need is to find out it pumps good to have the jar tip over...

Well, I pulled the fuel line off at the front carburetor junction to check on the fuel flow. Discovered mixed results; fuel flow is good if not great, but fuel content appears to be approximately 1/3 water. Currently draining fuel system and changing filters. P.S. I knew what he meant.
Found a the filler neck gasket annihilated letting rain water into the tank if outside, Irma left us about 6 inches of rain while the car was stuck outside. Drained 12 gallons of gas and water out of the tank; about 1/3 water, but it all looked surprisingly like Gatorade as it came out. Currently waiting on the Hirsch products to clean, etch, and seal the tank to show up so I can install it with fresh gaskets to prevent a repeat episode of this.
