Default Rusty gas tank....

The fuel tank in my '71 has some rust in it. What's a good, easy way to clean it out?

If it has rust inside I would have it boiled out and inspected. It can be coated possibly depending on the amount of corrosion. I had mind done at a radiator shop before I put in vent lines.

If it has rust I wouldn't even bother playing with it as a new tank is only about 200 bucks.

Hi,
I agree with CG.
Because it's difficult to determine the actual condition of a rusty tank, and because getting the tank out and then back in place is quite a bit of work, it's often wise to buy a new tank.
Regards,
Alan
