Default Question about fuel line clips

I am installing a TBI system on my '79, and the specifications recommend a minimum of 5/16" return line. The car originally came with a 1/4" return line, so the clips won't fit. I was thinking about using the clips for a 72. I believe the return line on those was a 3/8". Can someone verify that both lines are 3/8"? Thanks.

All of the return lines are 1/4" steel tubing and hose.

Hi MajD,
The supply lines and return line are 2 different sizes in 71-72.
They are run so close together that the clips used for that installation are large enough to capture both lines in a single clip.
That clip would certainly be large enough for your use.
Regards,
Alan

It's the clip in the upper row on the left.
There are also clips available for single 3/8" lines.

Since you don't have a fully-stock vehicle anyway, I would use 5/16" or 3/8" fuel lines. If you can find similar line clips in the size you choose, great. If not, you can 'modify' your existing clips or make others, as required. Ready-made stainless steel clips would be nice.

Thanks for the replies. The feed line is 3/8" and the return is 5/16". I can get the stock clip to fit over the lines, but the holes won't line up. I though about elongating the hole, but I think that would remove too much material from the tab. I seem to recall that the older cars had larger return lines, but apparently that is incorrect.

Most dual line clips separate the lines, and I'm not sure there is room through the transmission cross member or along the contours of the frame. I think I will get the stainless steel rubber lined tube clamps.

Alan, thanks. Do you know what size those lines are? I'm tempted to try them. My stock ones would fit, but the holes didn't line up and i would have to remove too much to line them up. I have the same concern with these.
