Default Oil Filter Help!

I have a 1981 Vette, 5700, 350cui, For 4 months here in Romania/Europe. I make the first oil change in 2018 Spring but until then i buy the right stuff for it. I hope i make good decisions after i searched the internet and i buy what i found here in europe for first stage. Before i save some cash and i will SHOPP from USA.
I found here this Mann Filter, you know this? Is fit on my Vette? I really wait answer for this. Please...
(i have another option the FRAM PH8A)
When i searched the internet for the right filter i found that the Original is AC DELCO PF25 but no longer available? And the replace is AC DELCO 454? Is that true? Cause i'm very confused because they are diferent dimensions and here on corvetteforum i read that is very bad if is'nt perfect match.
PLEASE apologise my bad english and excuse me if i wrote this thread on the wrong place.
THE SECOND big Qestion: You know about this product there in USA? My choice for motor oil is the US product: Triax Synergy MST 10W40 - Full Synthetic.
PLEASE Answer me. I hope for many answers. Thank you very much. Respect. Paul Jurik from Romania...

I would never use a Fram filter.

MANN is a high quality filter. I would not hesitate using it.

As for AC-Delco: Yes, the PF25 has been replaced by the PF454. The new filter is smaller but will work fine. If you feel you need a larger filter you can use the PF1218. Both will fit, only difference is the 1218 is a little longer (holds more oil).

Sorry, I have never heard of triax oil. It's probably a fine oil, but not something commonly used around here at least.

I use the WIX 51069 oil filter...but with what 'zwede' offered for the correct AC DELCO filter is correct. It depends on what you can get your hands on.

I can not comment on the oil you posted a photo of. I have never seen it or used it. I use AMSOIL 10w30 Z-rod oil.

That oil is fine to use. Go ahead and use it if it's readily available.

I don't see any Zinc on the label. Flat Tappet cam needs ZDDP.

The Fram PH-8A is a Ford V8 filter used for many years on the Small Block Fords (260-351's) and even some Big Block Fords I believe. Never on a Chevrolet of any kind, unless of course it has a Ford engine in it.

Regarding Triax oil products, I found this on the web,
"Your skepticism is warranted. Their products do not appear to be licensed. Nothing shows up on the API registry or the dexos1 list. The pictures on their site show no Starburst or dexos1 logo, either.

They may very well sell good products. But, they haven't gone for API, ILSAC, or dexos1 testing, despite claiming suitability, and their wording is a bit dodgy on their site. It's not a good practice to lump approvals and suitable for all in one batch like they do, particularly when we can't find an actual approval for anything.

Good luck... GUSTO

The Mann filter is better quality filter than FRAM. WIX is good; NAPA gold is good (Wix makes it, too).

Synthetic oil is a good choice for your engine. It will help maintain as much life as possible with an older engine. If you find that some oil seepage/leaks occur, it is because the seal or gasket is worn and just marginally good with organic oil. Synthetic oil has a much smaller molecular size and it can get through smaller openings than organic oil.

If the leak is minor, you can live with it or fix it. But, I would suggest that you keep using full synthetic oil for the benefit of the engine.

Read this:

http://www.triaxlubricants.com/triax...full-synthetic

It has the max zddp content permitted. Why does it matter if it doesn't have the Dexos 1 or 2 rating or a Starburst? C3's never required this because it never existed back then. As far as I'm concerned, Dexos = snake oil. It's dictated for use in newer GM vehicles by GM. Yeah, Dexos lubricates fine but so does plain old dino 10W-30 without a Dexos rating. Some folks just have to overthink oil! Why aren't you skeptics pointing out this - MADE IN THE USA?

I am looking at changing my oil, 1976 car, had a lot of Quaker State 10 w 40 , now am out, they changed all the labeling, now what do I buy??? These kids(that work in the parts houses) don't know what you asking about. HELP I used to use the PF35 filter because it was longer(truck filter) and easier to take off.

Paul,

I would not use that Prolong Engine Treatment Booster. You should not need it. Most of those are just snake oil and really do nothing. This is my opinion.

Take time to educate yourself with what is out there on oil. Many more areas to look at to make your own decision.

I know I use AMSOIL 10w-30 Z-ROD oil for engine like yours with flat tappet lifters.
