Mine loves driving in it, so much so that she wnats me to do a total resto. and gave me the ok to buy the C5 black leather seats this week and neoprene covers that JohnnyC5 had for sale. Will finish the interior, and get the exterior done this winter. She also likes the C5 rims so it looks like the chrome rims will be next. My original rims and BFG T/A's just don't allow me to hook up anyway, as SuperFast80 can attest to.
Re: Does your wife hate your Vette? (a454corvette)
She says: too hot, too bumpy, too small, too much wind, takes too much time, etc.. She has driven it twice. too long of a front end, I can't see the road, etc.. etc.. She does tolerate it and is a good sport...
As far as looks go My wife thinks it's a cool looking car. She doesn't understand what the big deal with Corvettes is and why we wave. She won't drive it because she's affraid to. But she likes riding in it, and she won't let me sell it. When she talks about us looking to buy a house she tells people it has to have a garage for the vette.
If it wasn't for my wife I wouldn't be driving a vette today.About 8 yrs ago we were out looking to buy our first car together when we came to this used car lot that had a blue 74 coupe for sale The next thing you know the wife starts telling me how much she's always loved vettes and wished she had one  I couldn't belive my ears. I thought we would end up buying some small 4 banger piece of crap. We didn't buy the 74 but that started our search for our first vette. We bought a 73 we also bought a 4 banger for the winter. And now we just bought our second vette the 68 roadster :D And I have my wife to thank for it :)
Re: Does your wife hate your Vette? (73Stingraycoupe)
Strangely, I have my wife to thank for my first vette purchase.
A friend of mine has had his 73 for about 15 years. I had mentioned how
it would be nice if I could get one. Her words: "Yeah, RIGHT !!".
Well, about a year later some friends of hers were selling their '75 coupe.
It was cheap ($4000), so she actually suggested that I buy it !! She may
be regretting it now, as the restoration continues. The other night I was
trying to explain the progress that I was making, and she said: "I don't
want to hear about it. You're lucky I doin't bitch about it all the time.".
Enough said - I keep my mouth closed now, and we are all happier.
She wants "her BB 69 Camaro". Someday she will have it, but not until I
finish the vette !! I'm gonna have to build my SB up and de-tune her BB,
so she won't show me up at the track. :)
My wife likes it but knows that it’s something I Love. I guess she likes it more than I think, when I sold my red 84 she was very upset!! She likes my 78, says it’s a beautiful car!! Can’t argue with that!! She says as long as I’m happy, what a wife!!!!
Are you sure you're not married to my wife's sister? Boy, does that sound exactly like my wife! Plus, she would add to it: "I can't talk because the exhaust is too loud!"(thank GOD!)-or-"I can't see over the hood"-or-"It rides like a truck!" along with her numerous dificulties getting in or out because of the "lowness". SQUACK-SQUACK-SQUACK!
I'm so glad she hates them.....it's my only chance to be alone sometimes!
:yesnod:   :yesnod:
I seem to be in the minority judging by your opinions of your wives/girlfriends but this wife LOVES Corvettes. I'm the one always pushing for more Corvettes, restoring our 70, etc, etc.
After having our second kid six months ago, I was looking for a minivan...she is the one that said go get a corvette and keep the Regal as "family car" no need for the van.
Now she wants me to sell the 74 and get a bumper car because we both like those better.
my girl hates my vette but respects the fact that i love it and my overtime is dedicated to it :D
and under no circumstance will it ever have a for sale sign on it due to her!!!!
my wife drives my '72 to work everyday, gets it dirty in the dusty parking lot, comes home with the top down every once in a while....
we go to the beach in it once a month or so...nice drive to the park...
car is a grocery getter also....
only negative is the wind noise at freeway speeds with top up, can't talk...have to shout....exhaust is stock with headers...
Not mine. She bought it for me for Father's Day. :blueangel: Love that woman. Just hope that someday she doesn't decide to trade me in for two twenties. :jester :seeya Terry
