Hi,
As JB says...paint thinner...and plastic putty knives/scrapers of various sizes and shapes.
If you're to not paint the underbody you don't want to damage the fiberglass surface.

Heat gun will work quite well also. Give it a try...you might be amazed. That is how I get the major thick areas off. And this is due to I am not wasting thinner..and i do not have to worry about the vapors.
Then I will do the rest...if needed... with the lacquer thinner.
