I thought that the engine tuner guy must not care about his hearing if he has any left. We never fired up motors without test stand dyno mufflers and we all had sets of electronic head phones for the shop and for pit crewing.
Uncapped headers would make any tuning worthless when you install it in your muffler equipped car.
I can't imagine how people around them even put up with a business that did that on a regular basis.
I wouldn't even deal with someone that told you that their cams are secret. Like the car salesman that tells that the cars price is under the dealer invoice price and they won't ever show you the invoice

The engine was not actually tuned on the stand......just started as a preliminary check before going to the dyno. His cams aren't "secret", I know what they are. He'll tell you (and confer with you on choice) if he builds your engine. He just doesn't want it published or broadcast, and I respect that.
After cc ing 245 head's they might actually be 250 cc. I'll be interested in your driving experience on the street. I only have 227 cc heads and I had to retire my auto tranny because tq multiplication would just leave long black marks and a blue cloud in the rear view mirror
I have heard of Box performance....he has that nasty blown 63' coupe.....
Do you know what head they used to CNC to 245? Those are wicked numbers but I suspect it would take a thcik casting as they have to be rather large ports.
Your 440 should be a beast......
Jebby
Yes, his coupe is actually a '65. It is a 5.00 sec. 1/8 mile beast that is street driven!
Box is a head porter, and has a collaboration with Dart. The CNC program is his. He flows on his own test bench to verify the numbers, before the heads go to the customer. My heads were a new PRO1 casting, 245cc, which ended up around 247cc when done. So far, only 2 sets of these heads have been made. These are not the standard Dart 245's listed in their catalog.
Sounds like a nasty combo for sure... I can't wait to see it on the dyno.. I would think it should make 700 pretty easy.
My buddy's 420" made 640hp with some home ported, old dart 227 castings that ended up around 250cc..LOL...(they went 335/230 cfm) This was at 11.5-1 compression and a custom R.E.D. HYD roller cam that's pretty aggressive (255/264*). Fully ported Super Vic 2 and a 1000 King demon. In a 1st gen Camaro it went 9.70@137 mph in -300' DA...on pump gas... Its a nasty little street car with very quiet exhaust.
Yours with probably 50hp more in a more aerodynamic car should roll the hell out...
.........close, but not disappointed. I wanted a ported Super Victor II intake and a vacuum pump on the engine, which would have probably given me the big "700", but without them it got close. I used my ported Motown intake, as the Super Vic II would not allow me to close my hood. And the dyno tune was scheduled before I could get the vacuum pump.
Nonetheless, I received the call (the Dyno was in Cleveland Ohio, 80 miles away) notifying me of the results and tuning info. The peak HP was 686 @ 6500 rpm and peak torque was 610 @ 5000 rpm, 35° timing, 93 octane gas. The carb jetting and tune was spot on as received, big thanks to Pat at ProSystems. Any changes at all resulted in less power....Pat really knows his stuff if you give him the appropriate info.
I have since installed a GZ vacuum pump, which Bill of GZ said usually adds 10-12 HP to builds similar to mine. A ported SV II intake would add a few horses, also, but I'd have to resolve a hood issue before that happens.
So overall, I'm a very satisfied customer. Can't wait for "test and tune"......
Solid power man, gotta be happy with those numbers... call up ATI, get you a custom 8” race master converter and you’ll go solid 9s with that power.... gotta love a 9 second street car..

........converter, yeah,.....Box Performance answered that too. He gave a call to his "converter guy" at Perfect Converter Co. http://perfectconverterco.com/, and had a converter made for my combo. They usually do his race converters, so I reminded him this was a "street" car.
He had the "perfect" one for what I wanted. (Obviously, this was not his first rodeo...) He even took me for a ride in a car that had this converter installed. It was a 9" bullet proof special that flashed at 4800 rpm but rode as tight as my 10" Art Carr. The "test car" had more horsepower than mine, so he said mine may stall at 4600-4700 rpm. Long story short, my Art Carr is now for sale.
