Default 1972 park brake cable.

I recently replaced the park brake cable on this car, he had a NOS A/C delco cable, but where the spring/cable attaches to the park brake lever at the shoes and goes forward to the frame mount ear, the cable passes thru there.
but the spring is small enough to bind up as well and tries to slip off the mount ear. there is a nylon retain/guide there according to some research.
I am looking for the GM part number for that guide, I have included a link for the part, but I want the GM number
https://keenparts.com/pages/detail.p...partnum=500039
the link is just a reference

any help would be great.

OK

What's the trick to putting these guides in without breaking them?
I got one in, and busted the other one.

Hi F,
I'm not sure if there's a 'secret'.
I position the bushing in place and then gently 'tap' it with a nylon headed hammer to get it to 'snap' down into the groove. (Pun intended.)
Regards,
Alan

I figured out the issue on mine was that the bracket was bent and was pinched in.
After opening it up back to where it was supposed to be, the plastic hammer tapped the guides in.

Plastic is brittle....these can shatter..so warm it up.

I have done it this way and do not break these...and the reverse holds true also..heat it up to get them out without breaking them.....assuming that someone has not closed up the bracket they are in too much.

That is the problem most time, the hole is closed up and if you tap in the new one will break it. Open it up and it should lightly tap in without breaking
