are you asking what was the original engine and transmission?
if it has a removal transmission cross member it was an automatic.
depending on the tachometer red line you can narrow the engine possibilities
assuming nobody changed the tachometer.
if it has a rear sway bar it could be a BB assuming again somebody didnt add the sway bar.
the type of radiator and presence or absence of an external expansion tank can give more clues.

For the 69 model year the VIN offers very little information about the car...
Whether the car is a coupe (37) or convertible (67).
The 69 build sequence number for the particular car. (700001 through 738762.)
