Default Do i really need fuel additive
Hi All,
I have a 468 with 049 heads from 1972, question is, do i really need additives for the lack of lead in todays fuel??

it wont hurt to use it but dont be convinced you have to.

Starting in '71 all GM heads were compatible with unleaded fuel. It also turned out that the pre-71 heads lasted a long time on unleaded without any additives. The only real problem was in large vehicles and people who towed heavy trailers. Low rpm/high load driving kinda deal.

Time and wear can beat up non hardened seats, happend with a Camaro I had. Got many miles out of it before it happened, surprised it didnt with the way it was driven

This! A Corvette will never have the load on the engine to cause valve recession.
