emission testing in Illinois
Ok not sure if this should be here but here goes ,I live in McHenry county Illinois that requires some sort of emission testing .I just moved here and don't know if my 1978 vette falls into the NEEDS testing .
Anyone here that can tell me yes or no ?

Requirements may be different county-to-county in Illinois. Many rural counties don't have a measurable pollution issue, so they don't "invest" resources in emissions testing. Check web info for emissions testing requirements on Illinois (.gov) site and for any such site available in your county. If you don't find it there, go to the nearest DMV Administration site and ask in person. Whatever they tell you, get something in writing....in case someone else in the system tells you different....

After re reading a couple times it sounds like if it is 68-95 and was inspected and passed in 07, it is good. I doubt cops will have access to the database to check if that 93 Accord with no sticker was passed or failed in 07. Nor will they care.

I live in Lake County and anything older than 1996 does NOT require emissions testing.
Illinois is too cheap and broke to support the equipment required to test the older (non-OBD2) cars so we get a break for once.
Also, you can apply for Antique plates for anything that is 25 years or older- The plates are crazy cheap (for now) at $35 for 5 years.
I have them on all my 25 and older cars- Even my 85' Suburban!
