Default 82 power windows question

Working on my friends 82 because his passenger side window motor no longer works but his driver side motor does work. After buying a working one off the forum and installing it, it still won't work. Could this be a fuse or a relay that has gone bad? Or is the motor I bought bad?

Did you run 12v to the switch and or motor? If it works then the motor is good.
If not, I would start looking between the door & frame for a broken wire...very common...

This blue wire is common between the driver and passenger side. If broken on the driver side like mine, passenger side will not work

So I will have to take off the driver door panel to check if the blue wire is broken? The passenger side blue wire is good.

No, don’t be taking the driver door panel off. My broken blue wire was on the door lock switch, not the window motor switch. Sorry.

You might have a broken wire between the door and the body of the car.
Look inside the rubber conduit between the door and the body.

You can have a bad switch in the console....or...a broken wire like it has been mentioned going to the motor.

It is easy and simple to find the problem because for your car...there is a connector on the inside of the hinge post that connects to the wiring harness that goes into the door.. So you can check for battery power when you press the switch at that location and then check the connector that plugs into the motor itself.

One wire going to the motor when you press the switch will get battery power...and then when you press the switch in the pother direction the other wire will get power.
