My 72 Update
Imagine what an alumn or iron feels like!!! It does make a difference otherwise GM wouldnt be doingit...they all are even the imports.
20 deg may not be worth it to oem....above you better believe it. Even if it nets them 1/2 mpg they will do it their restrictions are too tough. They even put heat insulation on them for tha tlast few deg.
Not sure why the late model guys eliminate that, ignorance I guess. It all counts.
Have a home grown heat shield undernath the "air gap" single plane and it still feels hot as helll to the touch, underdrive pullyes hi flow stat hi po pump etc.
Heat is tfhe enemy for the most part. Add bad gas...better have a nice combustion chamber and run super cool/well tuned or it may just ping.
It starts long before you can hear it by that time real damage is being done. That crank is trying to hammer the bearings right out of the cap/block.

Care to elaborate on what setup you used for the T56.
Obviously its the LS version with the hydraulic throwout bearing.
How about details on the T56 itself....did you rebuild it or have it done by someone?
What is the minimum work you would recommend for going behind a 600hp motor?
As to the hydraulics with it....what did you use? So many options out there but not all look the same in reliability.
Same question for flywheel/clutch/throwout bearing setup?
If there is a link to your build another place that covers that, just let me know.
Thanks
Dennis
Here is the link the clutc info is not much but there is some info here https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...o-my-72-a.html
Although still not completely done it has moved a lot further along. As usual with this build 1 step forward and 2 back. Little things keep popping up. Life also gets in the way. Daughter getting married in a month, younger daughter graduating high school and going t college, bought a condo in Fl and just life in general. Time is very short I get an hour here and thee but never enough time. I did finally get a good tune on the computer and it runs way better but losing some fuel pressure after a few minutes of running. Busy summer coming up but I’ll keep plugging along. I can see the light at the end.

Great info.
Thanks.
You do sound like you have a lot on your plate.
I followed your huge helping with David's racer.
Hopefully we will meet someday.
Did I say I was Jersey born and raised? Small world. I had a theory that everybody on the east coast was either from Jersey or been thru it at least once....lol.
Take care
Have a good summer
