Hopefully my last question - which order would you reassemble with engine in the car-

New dipstick tube first then exhaust manifold

Or

Exhaust manifold then dipstick tube?

I'm assuming the manifold will slide into place with the tube already in place but using the now shorter, broken tube as a guide the manifold is getting hung up, and I definitely don't want to put the tube in then snap it off trying to wedge the manifold in there.

Did you try rotating the tube to see if it helps clear? Doesn't matter a lot which way it points as long as you can get dipstick in and out and not bang the hood or firewall. If you need to bend it, don't do it after it's installed or you might be pulling out a stub again.
Just my opinion. Not worth much.

To wrap this up for anyone that googles this in 10 years, the new dipstick tube was just easier to put in with the manifold out of the way. I tapped it in by sliding a couple washers down the tube and then using that as a platform to rest a screwdriver tip.

There were a couple times when I was getting the manifold lined up that it bumped the tube but no blood no foul.

The only foul was when I first tried to get the manifold lined up I had one bolt in that I couldn't get started and since I was so worried about breaking the new tube I decided to pull the manifold back out and get a better visual of where the bolt holes were. When I pulled the manifold out I forgot about the bolt and that bolt decided to slide out of the manifold directly above the fender.

No fender protector = New paint chip.
