Ready to install new balancer, do I need to use some loctite on the balancer bolt, and pullies bolts. I have seen where some say yes and others say no. Not here on the forum, other sites.
Thanks

I use the medium strength blue as an insurance. Doesn't hurt.

Slow day, good day, for a survey.
YES on Blue Loctite!
Any fastener that is susceptible to vibrations, harmonics, torsion, jolts, etc should have a drop of Loctite. The harmonic balancer is not coming off due to the press fit. But the bolt could work loose and I wouldn't want to be around when it does at 6 grand. Especially with a "glass" hood. Its no different than the flywheel or clutch bolts, Loctite them!

A small drop of blue Loctite never hurts.
Always use less than you think you need.

I do not use blue Loc-tite on any of the balancer bolts due to they have lock washers and if tightened correctly....I have not had one ever come out.
And I do agree....if you use some of the blue Loc-tite....a small drop will due.
I also use RTV on some bolts/nuts/screws due to that was we used on some fasteners on a funny car I worked on.a while ago. It helped keep the specific fastener from vibrating loose or coming out due to how much tire shake those cars can get. It is NOT GOOD to have fasteners coming out of a funny car while going 300+ mph and leaving them on the track and not beign picked up. And when the fastener needed to coem out...it was easy due to not fighting with breaking the seal the Loc-tite has.

Thanks for all the replies.I am so happy I got the new oil seal on and the new balancer. Read where some had broke off the installer tool in the crank. Had me worried for a few days waiting to do some work on the car. The puller worked like a champ. Keep my fingures crossed and got the balancer ready. Made damn sure I held a backup on the installer as I turned the big nut. It went on supper fine, big relief, Put the three pullies on and then the balancer bolt. Used a little dab of blue. So happy it is done. Just need to install the plugs and start it and set the timming again.
Thanks for all the help. Special thanks to Lars on which balancer to get. All the pullies lined up just like before.

I'm a little late to the party, but glad you got everything done successfully. Next time, make sure to use a "new" lock washer, and never reuse an old one. They're meant to be thrown away.

Locktite/superglue, either one, same thing, and I had the damn clutch plate of compressor on wife's damn car POS Ford Focus.....new comp maybe 2 years before the bolt came off, and the clutch plate flew off, never seen again of course......new comp again, and this time super glue.....
I put a dab of it on my vette engine L98 roller block.....
Wife had a '91 Miata...typical crank balancer problem due to bad design....so re bore the hole, larger bolt, and SG on it too....cure THAT BS problem.....
