What was this bolt hole used for?
Was hoping someone could identify what this bolt hole on my '69 LT46 head was for. I was planning to use this to anchor my fuel line bracket (that I fabbed) to support both the 3/8 fuel line and the 1/4 inch return
vapor line. I'm having an issue lining up the bolt pitch and thread, nothing in my garage will thread in here.

MelWff,
Thanks for the reply - my setup is a bit different, but it looks like I can anchor my bracket on the outer intake manifold bolt as well. I have a Holley 4150 carb and an older
Edelbrock manifold that came with the car. I'd like to keep it as stock as possible so I am installing a more stock type GF-432 filter and installing the 1/4 fuel vapor line to the return line. I just wanted to provide a bracket for the setup and could not identify the bolt hole I originally wanted to use.

3/8-16. Same threads as the bolts that hold the water pump on the block and also the exhaust manifolds.
Do to you not having a bolt that will fit....you might need to run a tap in it or a thread chaser to clean out the threads.

All the threaded accessory bolt holes in the Chevy heads are 3/8-16. Most of them are pretty corroded, dirty, and full of paint, so you need to run a bottoming-tap into the hole to clean up the threads before you try to use them.

You're right - brainfart on my part. Standard coarse thread size is 3/8-16. Not 3/8-18. My post above corrected. Thanks!

If you can't find a bottoming tap, just cut the taper off the end of one with a cut off wheel on a die grinder

DUB and Lars both incorrect in the same thread? Is this one of the harbingers of the Apocalypse?
