Default Completion of engine

Can someone help me find the pieces that I am missing from this engine https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...make/chevrolet ? It would really help me out I need alternator, water pump... Everything to make the engine complete. Please link me the parts I need through Summit racing. I am going to make a big order there. I have a 68 Vette and need to replace the engine. Thanks in advance

Hard to answer. Tell us what you already have. Easier than all of us guessing at what you need.

Boy, where to begin. Before you even get to the accessories, you’ll have a number of things to sort out on the motor to make it work for your 68.

First of all, it’s a 1 piece rear main seal motor. Not a big deal but you’ll have to keep this in mind when choosing a harmonic damper and flex plate (assuming auto transmission).

Next, make sure there is a provision for a mechanical fuel pump. Couldn’t find this info in the specs.

im pretty sure the intake pictured will not fit under your hood. That will mean changing the intake.

Youll probably need to fabricate a fuel line from the pump to the carb. Not sure what that carb is but it certainly isn’t a stock one.

Last, the oil pan may or may not work in your 68.

Hopefully someone one will jump in regarding the accessories.

I have a big block hood, will the intake fit then. I also have a muncie m21, so a flexplate is not needed. Can’t you tell which alternator or water pump i should get?

We are all sympathetic to your question. But, what you really need is someone near you who can assist with a full plan on what to do. What you are asking is that WE do your thinking and planning on YOUR project from a distance and without specific knowledge of your car or situation. If you have a question about proper choice of items you are considering' that might be something we can help with.

I would start by looking up the brackets/and pulleys on a Corvette Vendor site....like Wilcox........alternators, starters, water pumps, balancer, flywheel, etc.....can all be looked up at Rock Auto dot com.....just type in your year.......
I spent big money on my installation by going with ARP stainless bolts throughout as well......jump on their site and they sell kits.
As far as starters go though....IMHO.....nothing works as well as a CVR.....but it is my opinion....best $200 you can spend right here.....stronger, lighter, smaller and more powerful than stock.
Looks like you will need a plug wire set too.....use 73051 Taylor and cut your own.....

OP
If you don't have a knowledgeable helper, and you're going to place Big order with summit.... Why Not ask summit to prepare a comprehensive list of parts you'll need?

Maybe they'll help beyond lightening your wallet?

Silly question but, does the original engine (assuming SBC) have the factory accessory brackets, wp, balancer, pulleys? If so most after market heads are provisioned for the fact. brackets.

Lots of choices for W/P, I had pump housing gasket seal problems on a Weiand Team G above 4000 RPM (keep in mind I have BB), replaced it with an Edelbrock and no leaks.

Might fit under a big block hood. You’ll probably still need a drop base air cleaner.

The 1 peace rear main seal crank reqires a specific flex plate so you’ll need to get a flywheel built to th e same specs. As mentioned above, probably worth asking Summit to help.

One thing you could consider if you’re starting from scratch is an aftermarket serpentine setup for the alternator, water pump etc.
