Tach Cable Grease
I read Willcox's directions on lubing your tach or speedometer cable. Unfortunately, the AC ST640 is unavailable. What are you guys using now?

You have to be careful of which lube you apply. If its too thin, it can actually wick up the cable and into the back of the speedo dash cluster. This is due to the auger-like design on the cable itself when spinning.
When I had to replace mine, I used gun grease made by Hoppes. Its a thick, clean grease that doesn't melt being the cable is close to the headers.
May be able to find that through Google.

Graphite or Moly powder... Gooey lubes are not good for the speedo cable. The jacket can get gummed-up and cause binding. If runny lube, it can wick into the speedometer and damage it.
Best to use a dry lubricant and just put a light wipe on the whole cable. One of these days [or years], there will be an affordable kit for making our old cable-drive speedos into electric driven devices.
