Default Carb rebuild or replace

Hi all. I have a 1972 SB which has been rebuilt to 1970 specs, 350hp. It currently has a holley 3310-2 carb but has developed a whistle once warmed up and also leaking fuel onto manifold (think it's coming from accelerator pump diaphragm. Since it's not the original carb (?) I was thinking just putting a new carb on to hopefully fix both issues at once OR should I just get current Holley rebuilt? If I replace, what carb would people suggest? Thanks. Doug

If something is "broken", it should be fixed....especially if it is causing raw fuel to be dumped into the intake system.

HOW you fix it is your call. A good rebuild of a carb is probably as good (or better) than replacing it with a modern 'parts store' carb.

Just fix the leak on the carrb.

The whistle would make me investigate heat as a cause. I have had that problem in the past and blocking the heat riser passage and eliminating the heat riser valve seemed to help. I might not do that if you still run an iron intake manifold. Those take a long time to heat up.

Check Rock Auto for a rebuilt carb.

Or Holley to replace

Rebuild the carb. Current fuel will attack some of your components. Holley makes a viton accelerator pump diaphragm which is resistant to the modern fuel. Use the blue bowl gaskets. Try this first. Also replace the secondary diaphragm ( don't loose the check ball ) . The cork gaskets in the idle screws are probably shot too. Check the throttle plate for flatness. Replace any vacuum port caps ( if you have any ).
