Does anyone have, or know of, a GOOD video or instructional regarding tuning and/or adjusting a carb on a 76 with the stock carb and 350 (LS48)? I've rebuilt carbs, mostly Edelbrock, hopefully someone has something more specific to these carbs I'd really appreciate seeing/reading it. Corvettes seem to always be just a liiiiiitle different, so looking for any help with the nuances of that particular carb. Thanks!
Lars only responds to e-mail requests. He sometimes frequents this Forum for general discussions, but will not respond to PM's, etc. from the Forum. I'm sure he will respond.
BTW, once you hear from him and consider his response, you should seriously consider just having him rebuild your carb. It will be done RIGHT, tested on a slave engine for actual performance, and fine-tuned if necessary. It will work better than most factory-new carbs. His costs are VERY reasonable for the quality of work he does.
I have Ruggles' book. And if I also had his wealth of knowledge, that book would be very useful to me. But, the details of differences in air bleed and orifice sizes from year to year and other subtle details make it very unlikely that using ONLY that book [or any other single reference document] would allow me to successfully rebuild any Q-jet OTHER than one which is in original factory configuration. If I were to buy what appeared to be a decent, rebuildable Q-jet, which was in reality a hodge-podge of components thrown together by a prior rebuild operation, having that book would be helpful...but my odds of success would be slim, because it just doesn't get i to that level of detail.
No offense to Cliff Ruggles or his manual; they are both very respectable. But one needs to be realistic as to how much "magic" one document can provide about many years' configurations of Q-Jet carburetors.
