do not email Lars for papers. MAIL him the carb. he will include any setup info when he mails carb back.

It's going to need more than just a rebuild kit...

To the OP.....

Heed the advice of Lars, don't destroy an original carb by sending it out for "rebuild"

There is a big difference between sending the carb away to be "remanufactured" versus sending it out to be competently "rebuilt and tested." It's mostly the commercial builders doing "remanufacturing" that are destroying the carbs.

I used the wrong terminology in my previous post. To clarify, what I meant was do not send it out to be remanufactured and destroyed. Send it to Lars to be rebuilt and then tested on a running engine.

A Q-jet can be successfully refurbished at home....but you will need a chemical dip tank......and it is important to make note of the position of EVERY part inside and where it goes.
But I do recommend just boxing it up and sending it to Lars......just do it. When it returns, bolt it on and then have him send you his timing papers....follow them to the tee.
Once the timing is right and the carb is clean and fresh......you simply will not believe how well it runs.
I always recommend a 2101 Performer manifold at this point for a few reasons:
1) It allows you to inspect the inside of the engine.
2) You are able to use a 1204 Fel Pro gasket to block the nasty hot heat riser passage to the intake.
3) It is 25 lbs. lighter
4) It eliminates the EGR valve.
5) It is worth a little bit of power
6) It looks better....and you can change out the crummy factory water neck and about five vacuum lines at this point.
7) It is the most popular aftermarket intake ever produced and you can find used or new open box stuff on Craigslist for about $100
Just food for thought......if you like to tinker....put an intake on it.
