I think the "screening services" document outlines the carbs to look for with the relative interchangeability.
Although they keep creeping the price up on it, the Balvenie 12-year DoubleWood is still a great value in a single-malt Scotch at roughly $50. Smooth and drinkable without heavy peat.
Finally have a recently and cheaply acquired, gently used and freshly "rebuilt by Lars" '73 4MV installed, no leaks, idles great (had to slow it down so I probably need to check my timing) at 700 or so with a little lump, and jumps happily when I yank the throttle lever.
If the rain would just stop so I could road test.....it's killing me.
Ha.. good one! Not to change the subject but, you seem very knowledgeable when it comes to automobiles. I know this is not the right place to have this discussion so maybe I can PM you ? I have a problem concerning OBDII controls on a Dodge charger with a 5.7 Hemi. Maybe you can point me in the right direction? Been troubleshooting this thing on and off for year now. Let me know. Thanks
PM me.....I work on OBDII all of the time.....may have some insight.

Contact Lars and get his timing paper if you do not already have it.....set it as described in the paper and be surprised.
Not that I didn't believe you, Lars, but as you know I did this in reverse order.
But with respect to your comment...."You have a fuel supply problem not related to the carb. Throw that thing away and get a rebuildable carb. Fix your fuel supply problem first."
I've got a better handle on root cause but no great solution.
I made several passes through the gears with clothespins on the lines (a couple right before the pump and 5 after) and it ran nearly flawlessly, although it did starve out a little around 5000 rpm in 3rd.
Next question....what's the best fix for a vapor locking car that lacks a return line and on which I'm trying to maintain originality? Orange clothes pins?
