I've noticed a ticking sound coming from the dash,,,I think,,,
Someone suggested it was the speedo cable.
I pulled the end from the box on the firewall and the clicking stopped.
Has anyone had this issue? Can I get lucky and spray some lube into the cable and hope it works its way down? If so, what kind,,, silicone, graphite, lithium???
You have it loose, so just pull the cable completely out and check it over for any damage, obvious areas of 'rubbing' against the inside of the sheath, or frayed/unbraided areas on the cable.
If you see no significant damage/wear, use lacquer thinner/brake cleaner/carb cleaner to wipe down the cable and remove ALL grease/oil/gunk. Then put some dry graphite powered lubricant on a rag and drag the cable thru that lube. You do not want any oily goo inside the cable sheath.
