CorvetteForum Loaner Carb Program Update

For those who are not familiar with it, we started a "Carb Loaner Program" due to the incredible amount of tuning problems that were being experienced by C3 owners (and some C2 guys). It's often tough to tell if our problems are due to carb issues or ignition issues... sometimes there are other problems. To help our Forum members with this, we had a bunch of Forum people send their spare Q-Jet carbs to me, and I've been refurbishing them and loaning them out ever since.
These "Loaner" carbs are available to all Forum members and Corvette Enthusiasts for troubleshooting and assistance at no cost. You just have to send me a check to re-imburse me the postage costs on the package when you recieve it, and you have to send the carb back to me in a reasonable amount of time so others can use it, too. Other that that, you're assured of the use of a well-tuned, good-running Q-Jet to help you trouble-shoot and diagnose your car.
Some comments and updates on this program are contained in a topic folder at this location:

Maybe some of the guys who have borrowed the Loaner Carbs can drop a few comments about their experiences here.
Contact me with any questions about this somewhat unique Program.

A question...
In the process of getting my vette on the streets I had my Q-Jet rebuilt just so I knew it was not the problem I was having. Ends up it was totally something different. Getting to the point... I have decided to pull the matching #'s engine in favor of putting more power under the hood and when I do I will not need that carb for the foreseeable future. I do not want to give it up permanently as I will be rebuilding that engine and want to keep it intact, but I'd like to offer the carb to those in the Houston area who might be having problems. I'm sure you all would like to keep control of the quality aspect of knowing that the carbs you rebuilt will in fact work, but I would be willing to offer a localized effort to those who do not want to wait and just want to see if that is their problem. If that is out of line, let me know.
If not... I'll contact you when I have the engine in the dismantling phase and you can send forum members in the Houston area my way.
This program is really awesome and one of a kind. I used one of the Holleys that Lars had and it started up on the first turn of the key. Ran like a champ. I even used the carb in my first autocross and got 3rd place. If any of you are in need of either trying out a different carb or need to troubleshoot some other engine issues then try out the carb loaner program. So when are you going to start the big block loaner program, Lars? :yesnod:

Prior to installing the main jets and metering rods that you sent me, I had also retarded the timing a few degrees as I was experiencing such a fast idle that the idle speed screw was backed to its limits and I still had idle over 1000rpm in Drive. At this time, I have 800rpm idle (after warmup) and the jets/rods you sent me... and the stumble at 1-2 shift. I will try advancing the distributor a little again back to what I had it at before and see if that helps.
I don't expect that I need to richen any more as that will likely cause a flooding situation.
If you know of a trick or two that I can try, I always welcome suggestions.
Thanks! :seeya
Would this be useful ? I think I ran the #s at Holley once - and it was a 1967
780cfm unit.
