1st Make sure the pink wire is tested for 12 volts while the engine is cranking. 2nd Unplug the "tach" connector off the distributor and try it again. If a no go your will have to diag the unit.
I bought a car at auction but I have a problem with the ignition
I have 12 volts
but no ignition
problem with the distributor
So you are saying that you have 12 volts at the pink wire but when you plug it into the cap you have no spark when turning the engine over? Could be that old accel coil or the ignition module. Greg

Did you take a look on the center backside of the rotor itself also? Common when going bad to pass the high voltage from the coil straight into the dist shaft.also. Its appearance will be a blackish crack.
