I have a 400 small block with a 750 demon carb. When I got it the guy said I would have to take it to have the carburetor tuned because he put it on and didn't mess with it. Sometimes, not always when I shut the car off about 1/4 later it will try to rev back to life for about 1/2 a second then shut off. Should I be really concerned about this or is it just the carb needing to be tuned?
Is "dieseling" going to damage the engine?
I use 93 Octane, it's what the guy told me to use.
I will have to get back to you on the idle speed, I honestly don't know what it is. I'm thinking it's around 800 but I'll let you know.
Running on, or dieseling is Not a good thing. Most commonly caused by incorrect timing. Incorrect idle speed and or idle mixture can also contribute.
As stated above. Your engine needs tuning. NOW.
