Default Fuel pump leak

I've been dealing with the same fuel pump leak issues for years and have been through three fuel pumps to solve this issue (one I wrecked being an idiot...)

Reference the photo above, the fuel leak always comes from this fitting. I've tried tightening this connection with the pump on the car (still leaked) and tightening it with it off the car (pump in vice and REALLY tightening it) - still leaks (when its cold outside).

Is there a secret gasket fix here?

That's a 1/4" NPT pipe thread that is supposed to mate to a 90-degree adapter fitting that goes from pipe to inverted flare. I assume you are using the pipe thread fitting adapter shown below... All pipe threads require the use of a thread sealant, so you need to do a Teflon tape wrap on the pipe threads on the fitting. With the threads properly wrapped, the fitting does not need to be overly tightened in order to seal, which allows it to be correctly "clocked" with the inverted flare threaded connection pointing forward at about a 45 degree angle. Your inverted flare tube fitting then screws into the brass fitting.

You are correct, that is connected to an angled fitting. I've tried a wrap on the fuel line in the past, but it got eroded by the fuel. Maybe need to look at a different type/brand. Will look into it - thx.

Fuel will not erode Teflon. Do not use Teflon tape on the inverted flare fitting - it does not seal on the threads. Only use the Teflon on the pipe threads between the pump and the 90-degree fitting. The inverted flare fitting should get the threads lubricated with assembly grease to allow proper torque (22 - 28 ft/lbs). If it is leaking between the brass fitting and the tube flare, chances are good that the fitting has a damaged conical sealing surface, or you have a defective flare on your tube.

I have seen in small automotive box stores (AutoZone, Advanced, O Reileys, spools of thread tape. That tape maybe for other fluids. Always check the label on the product. If it doesn't say anything about gasoline, ask the counter person. Otherwise gas will eat that cheap tape before you back out of the garage.

If you can find it, Gaseola thread sealer is for petroleum products.
