is 16 psi correct for your year corvette. For some reason I think the earlier year were down around 13 psi

total advance timing is beautfiul. ignition has been same since I got it never really messed with it. fan pulls air in from the front of car to thru the fins.

Do we really think the 1 additional psi is suddenly causing the issue?

was yours a spectre brand? If so its interesting we would have such opposite experiences as this is a pic of mine today after just over 6 years and 6000 miles on it. Ironically I had the edelbrock one you just bought on the car when I bought it.
I did just purchase a new dual input CAI to replace it as I make other changes which is why my engine is in disarray right now.

when held to the light theres no signs of disintegration on mine.

This is exactly what I use with my 3 row champion installation since there was no foam left in my car when I bought it. you can see it above.. I guess I can make an effort to make it more cosmetically appealing as the noodle I grabbed was beat up from being use to transport my canoe on my truck roof for years..

PS is the 16psi cap the one that came with your new radiator? I'm still using that one with mine and have had no problems but it doesnt have the rated psi on it. only champions info and 1.1 stamped on it.

I do not have an electric fan. However, after reading post seven, something doesn't seem right to me..
" controller activates at 165* "
(That part sounds perfect)

"controller shuts off at 185*.

So, are you saying it stops cooling above 185* ?
Don't you want it to stop cooling below 160* ?

The original clutch designed fan kicked in at a certain temp depending on type used and stayed on until it cooled to the desired temp and then started to slip again to maintain that min temp.

so on mine the top layer of fabric started to discolor black and developed some holes. it could be related to something else on the carb spitting out something. not sure.

yes cap came with it. reached out to them and they said that's what they ship it with. when i inquired whether they had a 15 they shot me down. i agree on the every little bit helps. once i get the cap, will add the foam and cover the vent holes i have on all 4 corners of my rad (see pic to understand what i'm talking about) as everyone tells me they should be covered to force air down the center. also replacing the overflow tank hose (mine is pretty rough) since it's cheap.

this is the cap i ordered

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ADO-RC27 returning the pressure relief cap i ordered in a few weeks to see how this does. i like the fact you can release pressure but if 15 is factory i want to gravitate there.

I saw this too and wondered the same thing. OP has it backwards. His cooling fans will shut off at temps above 185 but that is when you want them to turn on, if using a 180* thermostat and then shut off at say 175* thereby trying to maintain a constant temperature of ~180*.

turns on at 185 shuts off around 175 ish looking at it. it's getting this temp reading from the probe shoved into the radiator by the hose. it's pretty accurate as the temp reading on my dash indicates.

What thermostat rating are you using? 180*F is probably the most common.
