Does anyone the size(length/width) of wire I need from the starter to the ground location and the size of the hardware? And I know I could pull it and compare, but I’d like the sizes too just in case.
every site I’ve found has them listed stupidly high, so I’m just going to buy the correct length of welders copper wire and hardware and crimp them myself.
You maybe referring to the battery positive wire. it goes from the battery to the starter. No. 2 Gauge about 92" to 96" long Routed from the battery to the starter in the transmission tunnel.

and could you post any pic of the connector piece on that starter? I’m just going to make my own positive cable(way cheaper to just get 100% copper wire and connectors and crimp myself) and the standard straight out connectors seems wrong - and I don’t want to make my cable turn all kinds of different direction

That cable bolts to the engine block & to the frame. It is not a starter ground.
the little tiny black wire grounds lights and horns and other little stuff to the block. there is another large wire grounds block to the frame. can use most any 2 eyelet #2 or larger cable. i think only about 12 inches long. this is the pricey correct neg battery terminal. https://www.ecklerscorvette.com/1972...0aAkqJEALw_wcB mainly pricey cuz of the big grommet to seal the battery compartment. you can wrap elect tape around a 12 dollar cable and jam it in the hole. drive through any big puddles lately? then you probably don't need it to seal perfectly...
The other large ground wire goes from the engine block at the starters nose support bracket to the right side frame engine mount bracket.
So there’s a battery-frame ground, starter-frame ground, and a engine block tk frame ground?
what does the 12 inch big wire do? The one that I had originally thought was the starter ground.
something is making my car not start(but it started fine today, but won’t restart). I’ve replaced my battery to ground. And Saturday I’ll be replacing my battery-starter and my starter ground. Is it convenient(same area to go ahead and replace the engine block-frame ground as well?
sorry, I’m learning everything as I go. So it’s all bit by but for me.
That engine to frame ground does help ground the starter, as well as your Alternator and distributor. Very important. Mine turned all green and horrible a few years back. I took it off. went down to a Farm implement place. matched it up with one of about the same length but twice as thick. Charging system was noticeably stronger. starter spun better. No Corvette tax at the farm implement.

I think the biggest gauge Lowe’s has is 2(or 2/0?) and that’s what I’m planning on getting. But if they have bigger, I should get it?.?
Here's a picture of where it goes.
Could the other heavy black cable just be installed in the wrong place?
it might just be me not knowing what I was looking at. I’m going to get under it Saturday and replace my positive cable, starter ground, and engine block to frame ground(I think) cable.
batt to starter is a big PITA. it is run up the tunnel next to the driveshaft. first i would get a 10 foot long piece of 12 or so gauge wire. hook it to the S small terminal on the starter next to and just below where the big batt wire attaches. run the wire into the passenger compartment. touch it to the pos batt terminal. starts up? every time? there are 2 circuits on the starter. small wire engages the starter and the big wire provides the power to spin the engine.

GM used 1/0 but 2/0 is heavier and better.
Go to a welding shop and let them made it up for you.
the welding shops in my area are kinda.. sketchy... and I Lowe’s does have 2/0(I’ll call my local and confirm tomorrow). I bought a crimping tool on Amazon,
