engine block or heads? most likely old world products sportsman iron heads... indicating a good chance its an older build. the engine stamp is in front of the passenger side head and painted black in your photo.. its not going to be easy to make out as the numbers and letters are actually stamped and not raised like the number you saw on the back.

if this is a 383 im going to estimate by what I see so far its unlikely to be anything more than 400hp but cant tell for sure without going deeper or testing other things.

that 03/13 may be the date actually which isnt that old.

does any of those numbers match your vin# from what I can find that block started life as either a 1972 or 1980 350ci 155 or 170hp engine. so it could be a 383 now.

EDIT I was wrong it was made in canada not near me in tonawanda Well st catherines is a couple hrs away over the border anyway..... looks like its a 4 bolt block which is good and from a truck or van.
