I had a friend tell me that I should think about putting in a 4 link on my 76. I am kinda lightly considering doing this as I have a racetrack about 5 miles from my house. What is the best setup as I quickly saw there are many many ways to do it. More just a curiosity here to gain knowledge about the car and a 4 link. I dont know anything about them. Thanks.
What is the intended use? Drag race a 4 link works well but you will lose in every other area. Autofab has kit if drag racing is what your use will be.
Yes it would mainly be for the strip. I would like to drive it there and drive it back. Possibly a 383 stroker. When you say I would lose on everything else what do you mean? Would the car still be mostly able to be driven normally or would it basically be useless on the street? Thanks.
Mr. Pig. I should think you should do some research other than just on here. As there are so many options out there. I'm not certain myself that a 4 link would cause you to lose in every other area. as per normal street driving. I personally would think it's an improvement. aggressive street driving, maybe not so much.
Safety loops around your half shafts a bare minimum for the strip.
Corvettes were designed to be sports cars. O.K. a poor mans sports car in the C3 days. But sports cars. NOT mussel cars or drag cars.
Do some homework.

Unless you are going to run low 10's consistently....you really do not need it.....
How fast do you plan on going?

Certainly not 10s or even close to that. It was more just a curiosity thing. I really think a straight axle makes the car look mean as hell. Realistically I would probably never do it but who knows. Maybe some day.
I believe that variety is the spice of life. Run of the mill stock stuff just doesn't do it for me. 57 chevy stock have seen 1000 of them, 71 nova stock have seen 1000 of them. 67 chevelle stock have seen 1000 of them. So ultimately I am able to answer your question with one word, preference. I enjoy seeing things that are unique and the mechanical imagination that goes into it. Some guys out there are so talented in what they are able to do that it blows my mind. I think a straight axle on a c3 offers something visually appealing. It gives a stout thick feel to compliment the otherwise subtle and delicate body lines of the car.
IMHO straight axles are done for the ability to keep the gears in the casing, not because it looks visually appealing.
I hear you. To each their own. Some guys like fuzzy dice and some guys don't. Some people think 10 seconds is fast and some guys don't. Its just a personal preference when it comes to looks versus function.
