So about a year ago I posted about my original radio not performing. Wouldn’t even turn on, and when I did it soon died again. Since that time I have taken the time to pull the thing out and investigate what could be causing the issues. When I did so the radio was corroded beyond measure, to the point where one of the boards crumped in my hand and since then got a new radio but it still hasn’t worked.
I was wondering what could be causing this. It’s acting as tho it has not power, do you think it could be a ground? Or maybe something to do with the speakers or the antenna? The whole system is factory so maybe something is worn out?
Also just a side note, the antenna motor has worked when the radio did decide to come on. Also I did replace the fuse and it was still good.
Are there other items under the dash that show the same level of corrosion? Has the car ever been in a saltwater flood? If so, ALL electrical wiring and devices will eventually have significant problems. If that is not your problem, it is very curious why a radio circuit board is crumbling in your hands. Usually, things under the dash are the most protected parts of an old vehicle.
