Default New Engine - Headers Install

I am ready to install a new SB in my 1979 and asking if Hooket headers go in from under neath or from top other?? Any experience would be appreciated - Thx

They all go in from the bottom with varying degrees of difficulty. Having the car on a lift is the way to do it. Car has to be pretty high up off the floor to angle the headers up and in. If the engine is out, you can lay the headers into the engine compartment and drop the engine down on top of them.

Yes from the bottom, you need about 2’ of clearance from the ground to wiggle them in.

The best advice is: what size headers and SBC's heads. Like aluminum heads with mandated studs

Then I install the driver side from the top and passenger side from the bottom before I install the mini gear reduction starter. Or actually have it all wired up and just tie off to the outside

I put my vette way up on Jack stands and kinda curled them under and up. Passenger side was easy. If I remember correctly, I had to remove a part (steering?) to curl the driver side up. If I can do it, anyone can do it. Have fun. Wait till you hear her roar.
